In our first Football game of the year we played Ballina. From the throw-in, Ballina had a lot of possession. After a few minutes Ballina were putting a lot of pressure on our defence. Our defence held strong but unfortunately we conceded a soft goal. After that goal we began to dominate the game and a few minutes later we scored a point through corner forward Scott O Brien.

After a dog-fight to get possession of the ball, the other corner forward Manus Heenan lobbed the ball and Jack O’Coileáin finished it into the back of the net. From there we continued to dominate and got more scores through our forwards. Hard work throughout the field by Dominic O Brien, Chloe Connolly, Emily Talbot and Jack were providing good service into the forward line.

At this stage Ballina began to come back into the game. At half time we were leading After a lot of pressure, our defence cleared ball after ball through Killian Malone, Fiachra Starr and Adam Healy. After a long clearance by Killian Malone, Dominic O Brien caught the ball, beat a defender and passed the ball to Adam Healy who kicked the ball to the net. Our goalkeeper Noah Deeley Nevin, was outstanding in both halves making save after save to keep us in the game.

In the second half they kept pushing for goals and goals. We were still up by a point. Then Adam Healy scored a goal. There was 4 points in it. Then they scored a point. Then Dominic O Brien scored a goal. Then Scott O Brien scored a point. They scored one more point and then the referee blew the whistle. The final score was 4-4 to 1-4. We were happy because we won.
Man of the match was goalie Noah Deeley Nevin with 6 great saves.
